What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a focused state of awareness (sometimes called a trance) in which the
hypnotized person is very responsive to an image, idea or suggestion.  However,
contrary to popular belief, the hypnotist or hypnotherapist is not in control.  In fact, it
is quite the opposite:  hypnosis can teach a person how to master their own
thoughts and awareness and even some physiological processes.  Hypnosis is a
natural state that most people experience every day when they watch television or
drive and just before they fall asleep.
What is the role of the hypnotist or hypnotherapist?

The role of the hypnotist or hypnotherapist is that of a guide or facilitator.  They
assist you in reaching a state of relaxation and awareness that is conducive to
accessing the subconscious.  However, you as the client are in complete control at
all times and will not do or say anything that you don't want to.  You also will not
incorporate anything into your life that is not appropriate for you.
What will a session be like?

The first session will be about an hour and a half and includes a pre-hypnosis
consultation to determine your goals and design an individual strategy and
suggestions, followed by hypnosis.  Subsequent sessions will be mainly hypnosis
and run about 45 minutes to an hour.  Your comfort is of great importance to us, so
we provide a safe, supportive, and caring environment to enable you achieve the
results you desire.  At the end of the session, you will be brought back to full
awareness, refreshed and ready for the rest of your day.
How many sessions will it take?

The number of sessions depends on what you would like to accomplish.  Some
examples are:

Quit smoking:                               3 sessions
IBS:                                                6-7 sessions
Weight management:                  4-6 sessions
Test-taking confidence:               1-2 session
Relaxation/Stress Reduction       1 session
Insomnia                                        1 session

Results above are typical and may be slightly different for you.
